There are virtually no limits to creativity the world of literary art. Not only are the creations and sculptures incredibly vivid and dramatic, but the materials they are made out of have their own artistic and intellectual value. t’s not every day that you look up at the trees in the local park and see a gigantic 3D gargoyle head staring directly back at you. But then again, if you’re French visual artist Clément Briend, that’s the norm. His visual series aptly titled ‘Legends’ involves projecting & inserting 3D renderings of iconic historical characters into modern day surroundings.
The photos below are from the Parc de Saint-Cloud, a 460 hectare national park just outside of Paris where he recently showcased the ‘Legends’ series. Wandering the Berlin streets at night with a purpose, German street art collective Mentalgassi has been reinventing the aesthetic quality of public recycling bins, ticket validating machines, and other unsightly urban objects with photographic wheatpastes. The effect is such that these faces often watch you as you walk by them, which is a little creepy, but creative and amusing all the same.
The UN Conference on Sustainable Development is currently taking place in Rio Brazil and to celebrate its arrival, two frankly enormous fish sculptures were created and placed on Botafogo beach (one of the most famous) in Rio. Not only do they look spectacular but they are actually made entirely out of unwanted plastic bottles. Recycling as art as it were.
